REGULAR MEETING
The Fairbank City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, January 10, 2005. Mayor Welsh called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. Members present: Kayser, Plaster and Woods. Absent: Frost and Suckow. Also present: B.J. Sackett. Police Officer; Jim Peters, City Attorney; Dave Ryan, Assistant Public Works Director; Ted Vorwald, Utility Superintendent and Marlene Strempke, City Clerk.
Motion by Kayser, second by Plaster to amend the agenda to include County Dispatch Services. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Plaster and Woods. Nays: None.
Motion by Plaster, second by Woods to approve the agenda as amended. Roll call vote—Ayes: Plaster, Woods and Kayser. Nays: None.
Karen Tiedt presented the library budget for the coming year. The Council started working on the budget in general and set Monday, January 17 at 6:00 P.M. for a budget work session.
Motion by Kayser, second by Woods to approve the Minutes of the December 13th and 27th Regular Meetings. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Woods and Plaster. Nays: None.
Motion by Woods, second by Plaster to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Receipts for December were $137,924.80 and disbursements were $293,852.39. Balance on hand at the close of business on December 31, 2004 was $866,554.73. Roll call vote—Ayes: Woods, Plaster and Kayser. Nays: None.
The Resolution for Voluntary annexation was tabled until the next meeting to complete the paperwork and obtain the required signatures.
Dave Ryan and Jason Kayser will take care of getting a first aid kit for the police car.
Motion by Kayser, second by Woods to approve the purchase of a John Deere 5425 Tractor and a John Deere 542 Farm Loader for $57,385.88. Trade-in value on the John Deere 5400 Tractor and loader is $37, 485.88 leaving an amount due of $20,000.00 to be paid by electric utility funds. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Woods and Plaster. Nays: None.
Motion by Plaster, second by Kayser to increase Drake Mangrich’s salary to $8.00 per hour effective immediately. Roll call vote—Ayes: Plaster, Kayser and Woods. Nays: None.
Interviews of the applicants selected for the utility/maintenance position will be on February 14th.
Motion by Kayser, second by Woods to pay the bills as presented. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Woods and Plaster. Nays: None.
