REGULAR MEETING
The Fairbank City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, August 22, 2005. Mayor Welsh called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. Members present: Frost, Plaster, Shields and Kayser. Absent: Woods. Also present: B. J. Sackett, Police Chief; Ted Vorwald, Utility Superintendent; Dave Ryan, Assistant Public Works Director; Ed Gipper, Fire chief and Marlene Strempke, City Clerk.
Motion by Plaster, second by Frost to approve the agenda as presented. Roll call vote—Ayes: Plaster, Frost, Shields and Kayser. Nays: None.
Councilman Woods arrived at 6:03 P.M.
Motion by Kayser, second by Frost to approve the Minutes of the August 8th Regular Meeting. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Frost, Woods, Shields and Plaster. Nays: None.
Motion by Kayser, second by Plaster to approve RESOLUTION 2005-18 – RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DEED OF REAL ESTATE FOR ROAD PURPOSES. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Plaster, Frost, Shields and Woods. Nays: None. The name for the new road will be Collins Road since it is an extension of the current Collins Road.
Considerable time was spent discussing mailbox approaches. Motion by Plaster, second by Woods to set a current price of $165 per approach. Roll call vote—Ayes: Plaster, Woods, Kayser and Frost. Nays: Shields. For the present time, only people requesting that theirs be done will be done until it is determined what legal options are available to allow the city to be reimbursed for costs incurred.
Councilman Shields feels that Ted is making decisions that should be made by the council before proceeding with a project. Motion by Shields that a letter of reprimand for doing a job without council approval be placed in his personnel file. Motion died for lack of a second.
Motion by Kayser, second by Shields to adjourn at 7:16 P.M. Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Shields, Woods, Frost and Plaster. Nays: None.
