REGULAR MEETING

 

                The Fairbank City Council met in Regular session on Monday, January 28, 2008.  Mayor Welsh called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.  Members present: Shields, Frost, Kayser and Woods.  Absent: Mangrich.  Also present: Ted Vorwald, Utility Superintendent; Dave Ryan, Assistant Public Works Director; Gary Ott, Maintenance Technician; B.J. Sackett, Police Chief and Marlene Strempke, City Clerk.

                Motion by Shields, second by Kayser to amend the agenda to include Heart Rate Monitors for the School.  Roll call vote—Ayes: Shields, Kayser, Woods and Frost.  Nays: None.

                Motion by Frost, second by Woods to approve the agenda as amended.  Roll call vote—Ayes: Frost, Woods, Kayser and Shields.  Nays: None.

                Motion by Frost, second by Kayser to appoint Ron Woods as the alternate to the Fayette County Local Housing Trust Board.  Roll call vote—Ayes: Frost, Kayser and Shields.  Nays: None. Abstain: Woods.

                There will be no change in the official newspaper at this time.

                Enough people have expressed an interest in being on the Pool Board that it will be able to continue.  The names will be presented for approval at the next Regular Council Meeting.

                Motion by Kayser, second by Woods to allow full-time employees to accumulate 90 days maximum sick leave and in the mean time research the possibility of providing short-term disability insurance coverage.  Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Woods, Shields and Frost.  Nays: None.

                The hard drives will be taken out of the old computers and they will be disposed of.

                The council will meet in Special Session on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. to finalize the FY 2009 budget.

                Chris Davis was present to explain the heart monitoring program they are establishing at the school.  Councilman Shields said he would contact Butler County REC about using funds from the marketing account.

                Motion by Kayser, second by Frost to adjourn at 8:40 P.M.  Roll call vote—Ayes: Kayser, Frost, Shields and Woods.  Nays: None.
